Chapter X: If honor were profitable, everybody would be honorable.

If you can’t commit to do for yourself what you say you are going to do, then you really do not honour yourself.

Written by Rok P.
Life every man holds dear; but the dear man holds honour far more precious than life - William Shakespeare.

A man who comprehends respect knows that in regarding the individual you are dealing with, you are respecting yourself, your family, your work group and some other associates you might have. Respect is fundamentally honour.

For me and for many other individuals honour begins with family: especially with my parents. As the main virtue of honouring is mostly bound to other people, it is very important that in the end of the day, you honour yourself. If you can’t commit to do for yourself what you say you are going to do, then you really do not honour yourself.

Showing honour and respect to others can be done every day in multiple situations. Man shows respect to a woman just by holding her doors. Respect towards elderly by helping them carry heavy bags or helping them in any other way. Showing up on time is one of the most important traits a person can have as it shows direct respect towards others and of course many other traits a Bonaefidei man has to poses.

The concept of honour appears to have declined in importance in the modern West. Dishonour diminishes a person’s value, so the question I ask myself is what does that person have in the end of the day?

Until next time, RP.
